Focus on What Moves the Needle
Revenue growth is the #1 driver of valuation. Know exactly how much a 10% growth improvement is worth to your company.
How Valuation Works
Revenue Multiple
The core metric. Public SaaS companies trade at 5-15x annual revenue. Fast-growing companies command higher multiples. We start with industry baselines and adjust for growth and profitability.
Growth Rate Adjustment
Growth is the strongest signal. A SaaS company growing 100% Y/Y deserves a higher multiple than one growing 20%. We apply a growth premium to the base industry multiple.
Profitability Signal
Profitable companies are less risky and trade at a premium. Above 10% profit margin, each additional 10% of margin adds to the multiple. Negative margins reduce it.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is this the same as what VCs use?
Simplified version, same framework. VCs use revenue multiples as a starting point, then adjust for team quality, market size, competitive position, and dozens of other factors. Our calculator gives you the baseline estimate.
What makes a startup worth $1B+?
Unicorn valuations ($1B+) typically require $100M+ in revenue with 50%+ growth rates in large markets. But exceptions exist — some companies reach unicorn status on $20M revenue if they're in a hot sector (AI, crypto) with exceptional growth.
Does pre-revenue valuation work differently?
Yes. Pre-revenue startups are valued based on team quality, market size, and comparable rounds — not revenue multiples. Our calculator works best for companies with $10K+ in annual revenue.
How accurate is this?
It's a ballpark estimate, not a formal valuation. Actual valuations depend on investor demand, negotiation, market timing, and deal structure. Use this as a starting point for understanding your company's position, not as a definitive number.
